Project Management skills training for Project Managers

If you plan or manage projects or need to make an effective contribution to projects in your workplace, this course is for you!

Ron Eckman’s Practical Project Management workshop has proved a success for people from all types of backgrounds including government departments, local government, health bodies and providers, community organisations, private companies (construction, consulting and manufacturing, self-employed trades people, owner/managers and trainers.

Ron’s training approach will ensure that whether you’re new to project management or already have some project management experience, you’ll leave his workshop equipped with an understanding of basic project management principles and framework, and a set of skills and tools that you can immediately put to use in your workplace. The training does not use project management software – it is hands-on and practical.

 

Specific topics are selected to meet the needs of enrolled participants and include:

  • The Project Brief
  • Project Management Life Cycle and Milestone Charts
  • Defining a project’s Deliverables and Scope Matrix
  • Project Success and Risk Factors
 

Participants can expect to:

  • gain practical skills, tools and techniques that can be applied to any project
  • learn how to approach and structure a project
  • learn how to identify a project’s stakeholders and manage their expectations
  • understand the principles of successful project management
  • learn how to avoid some basic project pitfalls
 

The course will equip you with the skills to be able to:

  • clearly define a project’s purpose and scope
  • apply practical techniques for planning and scheduling a project
  • cope with ‘difficult’ people in a project team
  • identify the risks and mitigate them
  • check and report on the project’s status to different stakeholder

Includes comprehensive workbook, lunch, morning and afternoon tea.

Ron Eckman, Director of Apex Project Management is New Zealand’s most experienced and successful project management trainer, and regularly delivers project management training for Victoria University of Wellington. He has served on the Project Management Institute (PMI) judging panel for the International Project of the Year Competition and on the PMI International Ethics Review Committee.
